Sonic Stace grew up in the 80s with wave and pop bands such as Depeche Mode and The Cure. This is noticeable to this day, the British influence is often unmistakable. Greek music, which was often played in his parents‘ house, also had a strong influence on him.
Towards the end of the 80s, Stace discovered rock music. Guns’N Roses got the ball rolling with their song „Sweet Child O‘ Mine“. After Stace saw Slash in the accompanying video, he also started playing guitar towards the end of 1989. Like every guitarist he likes to play a solo here and there, but in the first place the guitar is a perfect tool to write songs and accompany himself.
Stace played and sang in numerous bands as a teenager and young adult. He gained enough experience so that he was able to arrange and produce his songs independently as a „one-man band“ from 2009. These are versatile: they range from alternative to hard rock, from punk to pop rock. What they all have in common: they feature catchy melodies and hooks.
Stace’s music is not so much about musical excellence, although he cares about good and enjoyable performance. He is more interested in entertaining people. His music has a unique and distinctive sound. His lyrics are mostly based on life. „I’m happy when listeners find themselves in the songs and if they make them want to dream, dance or contemplate,“ says the musician from Hanover.
